FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEMS WITH BLOCKCHAIN INFRASTRUCTURE
Web3 adoption is bottlenecked by fundamental UX and security challenges. L1 architectures introduce latency and oracle dependencies, which expose users and protocols to oracle-extractable value, where value is siphoned by third parties during high-impact events like liquidations. Additionally, the burden of key management, where losing a private key means permanent loss, which remains a major point of friction for everyday users.
So what does the future look like for blockchain infrastructure?
WHY WE INVESTED
Enter Rialo by Subzero Labs.
Rialo is a unified, event-driven blockchain system designed from the ground up to simplify the development of real-world decentralized applications:
-
– Developers can plug-and-play components
-
– Transactions are fast (DAG)
-
– Security is decentralized (threshold keys)
-
– Programs can respond to events (event-driven)
-
– Bots and people can automate interactions across any system, whether blockchain-based or not
Unlike Ethereum or Solana, which require stitching together multiple third-party services, Rialo offers a vertically integrated full-stack solution. Developers can build performant, secure, and privacy-conscious apps without the friction of fragmented infrastructure. With Solana VM compatibility and support for RISC-V architecture, Rialo offers familiar tooling while unlocking powerful new primitives for use cases such as RWA issuance, agent-based trading, cross-domain oracles, and more.
The result: Web3 applications that match or exceed Web2 standards in speed, usability, and cost that are delivered with a fraction of the engineering burden.
THE TEAM BEHIND RIALO
Rialo is led by Ade Adepoju and Lu Zhang, early engineers at Mysten Labs who played foundational roles in the development of the Sui network. With deep technical roots in both Web2 and Web3, they bring decades of experience building secure, high-performance systems.
Prior to Mysten, Lu led engineering efforts at Meta’s Diem project and helped scale large AI/ML infrastructure at Meta and Google. Ade contributed to distributed systems at Netflix and developed advanced microprocessor technologies at AMD. Together, they bring a unique blend of expertise across core infrastructure, L1 protocols, and decentralized applications.
The broader team includes top talent from leading organizations including Meta, Apple, Google, Citadel, Coinbase, Polkadot, and Solana.
LOOKING AHEAD
We’re thrilled to lead Rialo’s $20M initial financing round through Subzero Labs as they continue to work towards making real-world integrations seamless and enabling a new generation of autonomous, cross-chain applications.
